Tata Motors has officially announced to introduce 5 new nameplates in the Indian market before the end of this decade. With Avinya nameplate, the homegrown automaker will officially enter the premium EV segment. The company will first launch the Sierra EV in Q2, 2026, while the Avinya premium EV brand is expected to be officially announced before the end of this year.
The first product under the new premium EV brand will be the Avinya SUV, which is reportedly to be revealed before the end of this year. For people not in the know, Tata had showcased the Avinya X electric SUV concept at the 2025 Delhi Auto Expo. The first product could be the production version of the Avinya X concept.
Tata Motors is planning to open a new premium dealership network to retain products under Avinya nameplate. The brand will mainly target customers in tier-1 and tier-2 cities, where demand for high-end EVs is growing steadily.
Tata Motors has confirmed that the Avinya electric SUV will be based on JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture. Tata Motors will be paying a royalty fee to JLR for using the platform; however, the architecture will be heavily localised to achieve competitive pricing.
The homegrown automaker is also investing Rs 18000 crore into new EV products, platforms and ecosystems. The company aims to achieve a market share of 45-50 percent. In fact, the brand’s January 2026 market share in the EV category was 43 percent.
The concept was equipped with 3-screen display on the dashboard along with a massive fourth screen, which is free-standing and placed lower. The same setup could be offered with the production model. The concept has two-spoke steering wheel, V2L and V2V functionality, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL-2 ADAS, wireless phone charger and multi-zone climate control.
The Avinya X comes with a coupe-style SUV shape, featuring a sloping roofline. It gets pop-out door handles, and wrap-around tail-lamps connected by LED bar, multi-spoke aero-optimised alloys, and connected LED DRLs.
