Tata Motors has recently revealed the production version of the Curvv SUV Coupe in the Indian market. Similar to the Nexon, the new SUV Coupe will be offered with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. In this article, we talk about the key facts you should know about the Tata Curvv SUV Coupe.
Tata Motors had showcased the Curvv EV concept in 2022, while the Curvv ICE concept debuted at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. The production-ready model remains true to its concept and features the brand's new design identity. It comes with a bold front fascia, featuring an LED light-bar and Safari-like front grille. There is a strong shoulder line that runs across the width, complemented by flared wheel arches, and flush-type door handles. It has a sloping roof line that merges nicely into the tail section. At the back, the Coupe profile is clearly visible. It sports a 3D LED light bar and dual-tone lower bumper.
The Curvv SUV Coupe will have a layered dashboard with faux carbon-fibre finish. It features Tata's new 4-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, leatherette seats, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV Coupe gets A-pillar-mounted tweeters, touch panel for AC functions, and auto-dimming IRVM.
The Tata Curvv ICE version will mark the debut of the brand's new Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture (ATLAS) platform. It will be a flexible architecture, which is likely to be used to develop the next-gen Sierra ICE and the next-gen Nexon.
The electric version of the Curvv SUV Coupe is based on the Tata's Acti.ev architecture, which is flexible enough to accommodate different body styles, sizes and battery packs. The Punch EV was the first model based on this architecture.
The Tata Curvv ICE version will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options. It will mark the debut of Tata's new 1.2-litre GDI turbo petrol engine that produces 123bhp and 225Nm of torque. The other two powertrains are shared with the Nexon compact SUV, which includes a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel. While the former is good for 118bhp and 170Nm, the oil burner produces 115bhp and 260Nm. Interestingly, the diesel version will also receive a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Powertrain details of the Curvv EV are yet to be disclosed. However, media reports suggest that the SUV Coupe will arrive in two battery packs - a 40kWh and a 55kWh. The higher version could also receive a dual-motor AWD setup; however, nothing has been confirmed. It is expected to offer a range of over 500km on a single charge.
It comes equipped with the segment-first powered tailgate, which is not available in most of its rivals or even in bigger SUVs. Adding to it, Tata has confirmed that the SUV Coupe's tailgate has a gesture control feature that adds to convenience.
The new Tata Curvv has a glass roof that covers the entire roof. The front part of the dual-pane sunroof can be operated by voice control. Its rear section has 'natural light control' function, which adjusts brightness inside the cabin depending on the outdoor conditions.
It gets a segment-largest 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, which is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV Coupe gets connected car tech, voice assist and wireless smartphone charger. For music lovers, the Curvv will have a 9-speaker JBL sound system with separate tweeters.
The new Curvv SUV Coupe gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, which shows multiple information including advanced driver assistance system features. It also displays google maps via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also See - Tata Curvv Vs Curvv EV - Similarities And Differences
This feature is generally available in cars above 25 lakh ex-showroom price. However, the Curvv SUV Coupe offers electrically adjustable front seats. Both driver and co-driver seats have 6-way power adjustable features.
This mid-sized Curvv SUV Coupe has the segment-largest boot space of 500-litres. Despite having coupe-styling, Tata engineers have managed to offer this big luggage space without compromising on the interior space. This luggage space is more than sufficient to carry your weekend suitcases and other stuff.
The new Tata Curvv SUV Coupe is equipped with Level 2 advanced driver assistance system, which we have seen on the Safari and the Harrier. The ADAS tech offers features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, collision avoidance assist, driver drowsiness alert, auto high beam, autonomous emergency braking and others.
The Tata Curvv SUV Coupe has already been tested at GNCAP and Bharat NCAP. This model has received a full 5-star safety rating in crash tests. The SUV Coupe safety features include six airbags, all-4 disc brakes, electronic stability program with rollover mitigation, and electronic parking brake with auto hold function. It has hill hold and hill descent control, ABS with EBD, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, traction control system and Level 2 ADAS tech.
Tata Motors will announce the prices of the Curvv SUV Coupe on August 7. It is expected that the Curvv EV prices will be released first, while the ICE version will go on sale in the first week of September. The SUV Coupe is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. On the other hand, the EV could be priced between Rs 18.5 lakh and Rs 24.5 lakh.
While the official bookings are yet to be commenced, Tata dealers have started accepting pre-orders for the Curvv. One can book the SUV Coupe by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000.
