Maruti Suzuki will mark its entry into EV space with the e Vitara, while Tata will finally have an AWD SUV in the form of Harrier EV. Both these electric SUVs will be launched in our market this quarter, that's April-June 2025. Let's talk about these two SUVs in detail.
First unveiled at the 2025 Auto Expo, the Tata Harrier EV was recently showcased to dealers and media at its production plant. It looks largely identical to the ICE-powered Harrier; however, Tata has made some EV-specific changes inside and out. The Harrier EV will be the first Tata model to feature dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The electric SUV is most likely to be launched in May 2025.
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to be equipped with a 75kWh battery pack with a claimed range of over 500km on a single charge. It is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 23 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. It will rival the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e, and BYD Atto 3.
The Indo-Japanese brand will launch the long-awaited e Vitara SUV in May-June 2025. Maruti Suzuki dealers have already started accepting pre-bookings for the electric SUV; however, official announcement is yet to be made. It is expected to be launched sometime in May 2025. Estimated to be priced around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 24 lakh, the new e Vitara will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be offered with two battery options - a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh - with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. While the former offers 143bhp and 192.5Nm of torque, the bigger battery pack offers 173bhp and 192.5Nm. Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the new e Vitara will offer a range of over 500km on a full charge. It will be retailed through NEXA premium dealership network.
