Tata Motors has been caught testing the upgraded version of Nexon for the first time on public roads. The test mule covered under camouflage reveals quite a few details about its exterior design. For example the front fascia is expected to get a revised look inspired especially from the Curvv Concept. Mechanically, the upcoming Nexon Facelift will offer the same powertrain options as the current model. No changes will be made to the platform. The updated subcompact SUV is likely to hit the Indian market by 2024.
From the outside, the upgraded version of the Nexon will get a completely redesigned front and rear-end. Key styling elements would include connected LED DRLs and headlights positioned on the front bumper. These design cues could also be seen on the Tata Harrier EV and Curvv EV Concepts that were unveiled during the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. Besides, there will be no changes to the platform.
The interior of the updated SUV was not visible properly. Based on the spy shots, the car is likely to feature a larger touchscreen which will be different from the current model, however, it is not confirmed officially. Further, it is expected to provide a redesigned cabin and new features including 6 airbags and a fully digital driver’s display.
The current generation Tata Nexon is offered with a choice of three fuel types; petrol, diesel, and electric. The 2024 Nexon Facelift is expected to offer all of them. The new SUV will get the brand’s most powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that can generate 123 bhp and 225 Nm of peak torque. Besides this engine will also be compliant with the upcoming Phase 2 of BS6 Emission Norms and ethanol-blended E20 fuel. It is also expected to be offered with a choice of dual-clutch automatic transmission. The model is likely to retain its diesel powertrain as well.
Tata Nexon Facelift expected launch date is 2024. As far as competition goes, it will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue in its segment.
