The homegrown UV maker, Tata Motors is preparing to launch the much-awaited Sierra lifestyle SUV before the end of this financial year. The SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads, revealing key details. A new spied video is surfaced on the Instagram, which reveals the entry-level variant of the upcoming Tata Sierra SUV.
The spotted model was equipped with steel wheels, most likely to be 17-inches in size. This prototype presents minimalistic design, featuring matte black elements. It misses out on alloy wheels and chrome enhancements, which will be available in the higher-spec model.

Another update is that the prototype was equipped with basic halogen headlamps. However, the higher-spec variants will come with LED daytime running lamps and projector headlamps. Adding to it, the Tata Sierra was caught wearing black door handles and outside rear view mirrors. Also visible are the simple bumpers and unpainted cladding.

The Tata Sierra will measure around 4.3 meters in length, making it a direct rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the mid-size SUV category. In the real-world, the SUV looks bigger on roads compared to its rivals. The upright stance and boxy design adds to its rugged character, and it also helps Tata engineers to create more space inside the cabin.
The higher-spec Tata Sierra will come with high-end features, including a 360-degree surround view camera, LEVEL 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, all disc brakes, parking sensors, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, and others. The Sierra will be the first model from the homegrown UV maker to offer triple screen dash comprising a large touchscreen infotainment unit in centre, a digital driver’s display and a co-passenger entertainment screen.
The new Tata Sierra will be offered in both electric and ICE versions. Following the Curvv’s strategy, Tata will first introduce the electric version. It is likely to share the battery packs with the Harrier EV, including a 65kWh with a rear electric motor and a 75kWh with RWD and dual-motor AWD set-up. The SUV is expected to offer a realistic range of around 500km in a single charge.
The new Sierra is reportedly to be offered with Tata’s new petrol engines. The entry-level variant is expected to get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol unit, while the higher-spec variants will have a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The SUV is also likely to get a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that powers the Safari and Harrier. However, the engine is likely to be tuned for lower power and torque.
