The much-awaited Tata Sierra lifestyle SUV will finally go on sale by October 2025, during festive season. However, the electric model will first arrive in our market. The ICE-powered Sierra will be launched before the end of this financial year, in the first quarter of 2026.
The ICE version of the Sierra will be offered with both petrol and diesel fuel options. The company is working on a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which will act as an entry-level powertrain. This engine will power multiple Tata models in near future.
The SUV will also get a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 170hp and 280Nm of torque. This engine will join the line-up at a later stage, as Tata is facing some issues in the development of this new engine.
The diesel version is most likely to get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo unit that powers the Harrier and Safari. In the current form, this engine produces 170hp and 350Nm of torque. Tata Motors has acquired the license to modify the new turbo diesel engine. And, a differently tuned version of this engine could be offered with the Sierra. The entry-level variants could also get the 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit that powers the Tata Nexon and Curvv SUV Coupe.
Tata Motors had showcased the closer to production version of the Sierra ICE at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The spy images available on the Internet confirms that the production model will retain most of the design elements of the pre-production model.
The new Sierra will be a midsize SUV and will measure around 4.3-4.4 meters in length. It will be a direct rival to likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. The SUV has boxy design with rugged design elements shared with the Original model. It looks significantly bigger than the competition. The SUV has a flat nose, rugged bumper, boxy silhouette and relatively flat rear profile.
The spy images confirm that the Sierra will be the first Tata SUV to feature a triple screen set-up comprising an infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display and front passenger’s entertainment screen. The Tata Sierra will come with a 4-spoke steering wheel, an auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, HUD, JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos and ventilated and powered front seats. For safety and security, the Tata Sierra will have multiple airbags, LEVEL 2 ADAS tech, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and others.
