Tata Motors is set to make a significant impact in the Indian EV market with the launch of three new electric cars. Among these are the Harrier EV, Safari EV, and Sierra EV. These electric SUVs will be based on the brand's new Acti.ev platform which supports both V2V and V2L charging capacity.
Let's have an overview of the upcoming Tata electric cars:
Tata will launch the electric iteration of the Harrier SUV sometime in the first quarter of 2025. Most probably, it will be showcased in production form at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. This e-SUV will be based on Tata's Acti.ev platform and will come equipped with a battery pack ranging from 60-80 kWh. It will have an All-Wheel-Drive system and is expected to offer a range of around 500 km.
Apart from the Harrier, Tata will also introduce the electric version of Safari. In fact, both Safari and Harrier will get petrol iterations by the next year while presently, these SUVs come with a 2.0-litre diesel unit only. Similar to the Harrier EV, the Safari EV will also be built on the Acti.ev platform. It will support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capacity.
Last but not least, Tata Motors is bringing the iconic Sierra back to the market. Similar to the Harrier and Safari, the new Sierra will be offered with ICE and EV powertrains. Based on the Acti.ev platform, the Sierra EV will come with a premium interior layout and top-notch features. Expect it to be launched in 2025. The ICE-powered model will be based on the brand’s ATLAS platform, which underpins the Curvv SUV Coupe. This platform also supports AWD capabilities, which suggests that the Sierra could receive AWD setup. The petrol version is likely to receive a 1.5L T-GDI engine with manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
