Toyota presented a lineup of alternative fuel vehicles Among them was the hydrogen-powered Mirai Hycross Flex Fuel and Hyryder CNG were also displayed
At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in New Delhi, Toyota Kirloskar Motors seized attention by presenting a lineup of alternative fuel vehicles. In a market dominated by petrol, petrol-hybrid, CNG, and diesel models, the brand is leading the way towards a more sustainable future with its innovative approach.
Toyota Mirai is a Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) that is powered by hydrogen. Although already accessible in specific international markets, it serves as Toyota's technological showcase in India, offering a preview of the brand's dedication to advanced technology.

Another model was the Innova Hycross flex fuel prototype which represents Toyota's commitment to adaptable fuel solutions. It is equipped with a 2.0-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine combined with an electric motor. This prototype demonstrates efficient operation on ethanol-blended petrol, resulting in notably reduced hydrocarbon emissions.
As a robust hybrid, Toyota Innova Hycross flex-fuel prototype functions primarily in electric mode. It relies on the battery pack for 60 percent of its operation. The remaining 40 percent seamlessly engages the ethanol-powered engine, leading Toyota to assert that it achieves the lowest well-to-wheel emissions.
To optimize the four-wheeler’s performance with ethanol, the manufacturer has implemented several modifications. These include specialized spark plugs, valves, and piston ring tops designed to resist water and prevent corrosion during ethanol operation. Additionally, the exhaust system incorporates a three-way catalyst to further diminish hydrocarbon emissions.
Alongside the focus on the Innova Hycross, the Japanese automaker exhibited the Hyryder CNG, underscoring its dedication to compressed natural gas technology.
Visitors also have the chance to examine a specially crafted Hilux emergency response truck, highlighting Toyota's adaptability in addressing various automotive requirements.
