Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited e Vitara or Vitara electric in the Indian market. Not just EVs, MSIL is also focusing on hybrid cars to drive sales in the competitive market. Seeing the positive response for Grand Vitara hybrid, the Indo-Japanese brand is now planning to launch two new hybrid SUVs in the country in 2025.
Maruti Suzuki will introduce a new 7-seater SUV to rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and others. This SUV will come with Toyota's 1.5L hybrid powertrain. Adding to it, the company is developing its own hybrid system to power entry-level cars. Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift will be the first product to feature the in-house developed hybrid system.
The new 3-row Maruti SUV will be based on the Grand Vitara's Global C platform, which also underpins the Brezza. The new 7-Seater SUV is likely to be equipped with ADAS or advanced driver assistance system. The SUV will share its powertrain options with the Grand Vitara, which includes a 1.5L NA petrol and a 1.5L hybrid.
The 7-seater Grand Vitara will also share most of its features with the 5-seater model. It will receive a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, powered driver's seat and many more. Toyota will also launch its own version of the 7-seater SUV sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.
MSIL will introduce the Fronx facelift in 2025. It will be the first model to debut Maruti's new hybrid engine, which will comprise a 1.2L 3-cylinder Z12E engine, a smaller battery pack of around 1.5-2kWh and one electric motor. The engine will act as a generator to charge the battery pack. This powertrain will also be offered on other Maruti cars including Baleno and Swift.
Not just Hybrid engine, the Fronx facelift is also likely to receive Level 1 ADAS kit. The ADAS features include Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Vehicle Departure Alert, and more
