The Union Budget 2026, presented by Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, has been welcomed by industry leaders from Skoda and Audi. Both brands appreciate the government’s focus on manufacturing, improving infrastructure, and supporting the growth of electric vehicles (EVs). Experts believe that these steps will help India grow into a stronger hub for manufacturing and mobility.

Mr. Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, praised the budget for focusing on manufacturing competitiveness and improving trade relations, especially through the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). This, according to Arora, will help India strengthen its position in the global car supply chain.
Arora also highlighted the importance of supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which will benefit from policies aimed at localization and boosting old industrial areas. Skoda is committed to sustainable mobility and increasing local production, in line with the country’s goals for Viksit Bharat 2047.
Mr. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Brand Director of Audi India, also supported the budget for focusing on improving infrastructure and increasing capital expenditure. He pointed out that expanding highways and freight corridors will improve connections between cities and boost the market for luxury cars, especially in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Dhillon also praised the focus on clean energy and electric vehicles. With new policies supporting electric vehicle (EV) platforms and battery production, Audi believes that India will grow as a leader in the EV market.
Both Skoda and Audi are pleased with the government’s push for clean energy, especially the support for battery manufacturing and lithium-ion cells. Mr. Harinder Singh, CEO of Yokohama India, also expressed confidence in the EV sector. The budget’s focus on key materials needed for EVs and other advanced components will help create a strong supply chain for electric mobility.
The Rs 12.2 lakh crore investment in infrastructure will improve logistics efficiency and supply chain connectivity. This, in turn, will lower transportation costs for businesses and make products more affordable.
Mr. Dilip Chandak, Managing Director of Vega Helmets, welcomed the budget’s support for road safety and small businesses (MSMEs). The reform to remove TDS and income tax on road accident claims is a step forward in helping families get quicker compensation. This, he believes, will encourage insurers to process claims faster and reduce financial stress for victims.
The budget’s focus on supporting MSMEs will also help increase awareness about helmet usage and improve safety on Indian roads.
