Volkswagen to introduce its smallest SUV in 2025 It will be based on the modified MQB AO platform Codenamed A0 compact SUV, the new model will first go on sale in Brazil
Volkswagen is all set to introduce an all-new compact SUV, internally codenamed A0, in the global markets in 2025. To be positioned below the T-Cross and Vivus, the new Volkswagen A0 compact SUV will rival the likes of the Fiat Pulse and Renault Kardian. This segment will also witness the arrival of many more products in the Indian market.

Based on the spy shots, Motor1's user Renato Aspromonte has imagined the possible styling of the upcoming Volkswagen compact SUV. The styling of the new compact SUV is different from the T-Cross and Nivus. The SUV's design is inspired from VW's European and United States SUV range.
The front fascia has the signature grille, flanked by the LED daytime running lamps. The headlamp unit looks different from the one available on the Nivus. The bumper has a wide black bar that offers a sense of robustness and aggressive look. This is similar to the one offered in the European-spec Tiguan.
The side profile has clean surfaces with strong lines similar to the European Tiguan. It has rounded wheel arches with creases and black plastic cladding. There are worn-out plastic appliques on the front fenders, which is added to give it the visual characteristic of an SUV. The designer has added diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels.
The rear profile has more roundish design, featuring smaller tail-lights that are connected by a black bar that runs across the trunk lid. The license plate is placed on the bumper, while the dual-tone bumper has black and silver finish. It comes with a roof-integrated spoiler, black roof-rails and rear wiper/washer.
The new Volkswagen compact SUV will be based on the MQB A0 platform that also underpins the Polo, Nivus, T-Cross and Virtus. It is likely to measure around 4 meters in length. As a reference, the VW Nivus is 4,226mm in length. It is expected to have a wheelbase of 2,566mm, which is similar to the VW Polo.
The new VW A0 SUV will be powered by a tried & tested 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Taigun and Virtus in India. It is not likely to receive the hybrid-flex engine in Brazil. It will share the interior and features with the Nivus Coupe-style SUV. The compact SUV will have a digital instrument console, VW Play multimedia system, a multi-functional steering wheel and others.
Volkswagen is yet to confirm the arrival of a sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market. On the other hand, Skoda has announced plans to launch the Kylaq sub-4 meter SUV in the country by March 2025. The new model will be based on the modified version of the MQB A0 In platform that underpins the Kushaq, Taigun, Virtus and Slavia. It is early to comment whether Volkswagen will introduce its own iteration of the compact SUV in our market.
