The Nissan SUV line-up in India comprises two models, namely the Magnite and the X-Trail. The Nissan Magnite is a sub-4 meter SUV based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A+ modular platform that also underpins the Renault Kiger. It is available with two petrol engines - a 1.0L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol with manual, AMT and CVT gearbox choices.
The Nissan X-Trail is a 7-seater SUV, which comes as a fully imported model. This SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 163bhp and 300Nm of torque, and is paired to a shift-by-wire CVT auto gearbox.
Nissan is preparing to launch multiple new cars and facelifts of existing models in the Indian market. The company will enter the affordable MPV segment with an all-new model in early 2026. Adding to it, Renault will launch a new 5-seater mid-sized SUV and a 3-row SUV in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Nissan Motors India Private Limited was established in 2005 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company Limited, Japan. The company operated two brands under its umbrella (Nissan and Datsun) until 2022. Presently, the company has a manufacturing unit near Chennai, which was set up together with its global alliance partner, Renault, in a record time of 21 months.
