Kia Motors has just announced that it has delivered 200 units of the EV6 in the Indian market. Being a CBU unit, the number is twice of what was planned when the crossover was launched. The brand is now planning to increase the allocation of the EV6 to help clear as much as pending deliveries it can this year.
The South Korean automaker received 355 bookings for the electric crossover prior to its launch and that number has increased even more since. The EV6 is the brand's flagship EV and the first electric model in the country. Priced at Rs 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom) India, deliveries for the vehicle started last month. Till now, Kia has delivered a total of 200 EV6 to customers.

The EV6 is based on Hyundai Group’s e-GMP platform that also underpins the Ioniq 5 crossover. It currently competes with the Volvo XC40 recharge in India.
Kia offers the EV6 in two variants, both using a 77.4 kWh battery pack. First is a single-motor rear-wheel drive GT Line variant that delivers a maximum power output of 229bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. While the other is a dual-motor all-wheel drive GT Line AWD model good for 325bhp and 605 Nm peak torque. The electric vehicle is compatible with a 305 kW DC fast charger and offers an ARAI-claimed mileage of up to 708 kms.
As already stated, the EV6 has done better than expected in India since its launch. Even though it is quite a premium offering, the crossover has attracted the attention of the Indian consumer with its remarkable range, futuristic design and features.
This bodes well for Kia, the EV6 is the only electric model in the country from the brand. If certain media reports are to be believed then the manufacturer is said to be developing an India-specific EV that will be much more reasonably priced in the coming few years.
