The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has become a popular choice among customers, as evidenced by its consistent ranking among the top 10 best-selling cars each month. Recently, the compact crossover SUV achieved a significant milestone of 2 lakh sales since its market launch in 2023. The carmaker sold 100,000 units of the Maruti Fronx in the first 10 months, with the next 100,000 units sold in just seven months. It remains one of Maruti Suzuki's major sales contributors, competing directly with models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
The Fronx is now set to receive its first midlife update in 2025. This compact crossover SUV is expected to undergo subtle design and feature upgrades both inside and out. However, the most notable enhancement will be the introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed strong hybrid technology, codenamed HEV. The Indo-Japanese automaker is reportedly working on a new strong hybrid powertrain that will be significantly more affordable than Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid technology.
The updated Maruti Fronx facelift will feature the Swift’s 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, paired with a 1.5kWh to 2kWh battery and an electric motor. Maruti Suzuki’s new strong hybrid powertrain will make the updated Fronx more fuel-efficient, with media reports suggesting a mileage of over 35 km/l. The HEV system will also be introduced across Maruti Suzuki’s mass-market offerings, including the Baleno, Swift, and Brezza, as well as some upcoming entry-level compact vehicles.
The Fronx facelift may also come equipped with a range of new features. Its current model already boasts an impressive suite of offerings, including a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display (HUD), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, Suzuki Connect car features, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, rear AC vents, a 6-speaker sound system, a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, over-the-air (OTA) updates, hill hold assist, an electronic stability program, and more.
Tata Motors will launch the new Sierra ICE and EV before the end of this year - Harrier EV launch expected in May-June 2025.
