Tesla recently entered the Indian market with its globally popular Model Y SUV. Interestingly, a six-seater version of the Tesla Model Y has been leaked on the Internet ahead of its official debut. The long-wheelbase SUV will first go on sale in the Chinese market.
Documents filed with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveals that the long-wheelbase version of the Model Y will be called the Tesla Model Y L. Not just the spacious cabin, the new 3-row electric SUV will be more powerful than the existing model.
The six-seater Model Y L will come with captain seats in the second-row. It measures 4976mm in length, which is around 186mm longer than the standard MODEL Y. The height has been increased by 44mm to create extra headroom space.
The wheelbase has been increased to 3,040mm, which is 150mm longer than the five-seater SUV. The Tesla Model Y L will come with new seats, newly designed wheel and new spoiler. Moreover, the SUV could get a new gold paint scheme.
The official documents reveal that the new Model Y L will offer 455hp, which is 12hp more than the standard 5-seater version (443hp). It is reported that a 7-seater derivative of the MODEL Y could also arrive in near future.
The India-spec model is available in two variants - RWD and long-range RWD - priced at Rs 59.89 lakh and Rs 67.89 lakh, respectively. The electric SUV is available with two battery choices 60kWh with 500km range and 75kWh with 622km range. Both versions come with a 295hp, rear-axle-mounted electric motor. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 5.6 seconds. Using a 250kW DC fast charger, the battery can achieve up to 267km of range in just 15 minutes.
