We informed you earlier that the long-awaited Dacia Bigster in production-avatar will make global debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show in October. This 3-row mid-sized SUV will also be sold under Renault nameplate in markets where Dacia is not present. It is basically the 7-seater Renault Duster and will be introduced as an affordable alternative to the VW Tiguan and Kia Sportage in global markets.
Few reports claim that the new Bigster will price less than £20,000 (approx INR 22.02 lakh), which will make it cheaper than the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and Citroen C5 Aircross. Renault has already confirmed that it will launch the third-gen Duster SUV and an all-new 7-seater SUV in the Indian market in 2025-26. Not just Renault, Nissan will also have its own version of the Duster and the Bigster in our market.
The production-ready model will retain original styling of the concept with few design changes to make it road-legal. In fact, the third-gen Duster design is heavily influenced from the Bigster concept. The teaser images reveal little about its styling, but spy images suggest that the production model could be bigger in size compared to the original concept.
The first teaser images reveal tiny details about its rear profile. The SUV retains the Y-shaped tail-lights, which we have seen on the Duster SUV. It will have heavy cladding and flared wheel arches. The new Bigster SUV is developed on Renault-Nissan alliance’s
The production-version of the SUV will have modern interiors, featuring new dashboard layout and modern features. It will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, a flat-bottomed multi-functional steering wheel and others. The SUV will also get Level 2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high beam and others.
The 7-seater Renault Duster or Dacia Bigster is expected to share the engine options with the 5-seater model. It is available with a choice of either 1.0L or 1.2L petrol engines, both with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Bigster is also expected to get a 1.6-litre petrol hybrid engine with an automatic gearbox.
