All-Electric Range Rover Velar Set for 2026 Reveal

The all-electric Range Rover Velar is set to be revealed in 2026. It will be the second electric model from the brand after the flagship Range Rover EV. The new Velar will mark the second generation of the Velar nameplate, which has been on sale since 2017 with petrol and diesel engines.

At present, the Velar sits between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the company’s line-up. The electric version is expected to follow the same positioning.

Design Changes Spotted on Test Cars

Test vehicles of the Velar EV have already been seen testing overseas. The camouflaged models show flat rear haunches and a strong side line. The front design appears to carry a closed panel that looks similar in shape to the current grille.

The headlights look slimmer and more swept back. The SUV is also expected to get flush door handles and a stronger shoulder line. At the rear, the sloping roof gives it a more fastback-style look instead of a traditional upright SUV shape. Slim tail-lamps connected by a black panel with Range Rover lettering are also expected.

More Road-Focused Approach

The Velar has always been more road-focused compared to other Range Rover models. The electric version is likely to continue with this approach. The smoother shape may also help improve aerodynamics and driving range. The new Velar EV will rival the Porsche Macan EV in global markets.

New Platform and Technology

The electric Velar is expected to use JLR’s new 800V EMA platform. This platform will also support future electric models from the group, including the upcoming Tata Avinya range.

The EMA platform supports fast charging, connected car technology, and Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems. It is also expected to offer a flat floor layout, which will help increase cabin space.

The all-electric Range Rover Velar is expected to be revealed later this year, with its full launch planned for 2026. More details about battery options, range, and performance are likely to be shared closer to its official debut.
