Mahindra is actively testing an all-new compact SUV, which is set to make global debut on 15th August, 2025. Adding to it, the homegrown UV maker will also showcase 4 new concepts and its new ‘nu’ monocoque platform. It is expected that the new Mahindra compact SUV will be based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform.
It was speculated that the new Mahindra compact SUV will launch in our market during festive season, before Diwali. We expect that the new compact SUV will be launched in the first quarter of 2026. This year, the brand will introduce the updated versions of the XUV700, Thar 3-door and Scorpio-N.
It was speculated to be the new-gen Bolero Neo; however, media reports suggest that it will be an all-new SUV. The all-new Mahindra compact SUV will be a sub-4 meter SUV and could carry a completely different nameplate.
The all-new Mahindra compact SUV will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV, which is also evident from the prototypes caught testing on the Indian roads. It is most likely to be a front-wheel-drive SUV and will be based on the brand’s new ’nu’ monocoque platform.
The new SUV shares styling cues with the Thar and Scorpio-N, and has no resemblance to either Bolero or XUV 3XO. It has rugged looks with modern design elements. The SUV gets an all-new front fascia, featuring Scorpio-N like front grille, Thar-Roxx like circular headlamps and an upright nose.
The new Mahindra compact SUV comes with prominent bumper that houses new LED fog lamps. The SUV has shorter overhangs, squared-out wheel arches, multi-spoke alloy wheels, side-hinged rear door, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and vertically-stacked tail-lamps.
The all-new Mahindra compact SUV is likely to get modern comfort and convenience features. It is likely to share the cabin features with the XUV 3XO. The SUV could get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, height adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control and others. The new lifestyle SUV is also likely to get a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS tech.
The new Mahindra compact SUV is likely to source its powertrains with the XUV 3XO. The SUV could get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol. Both manual and automatic gearbox choices are likely to be on offer. Mahindra is also working on a strong hybrid engine, which could join the SUV line-up at a later stage.
