Mahindra & Mahindra has finally announced the launch date of its Big Daddy SUV, the Scorpio. The popular SUV will be globally launched on the 27th of June 2022 with price announcement to follow soon. As per the carmaker, the new-gen model will be a combination of thrilling performance, off-roading capabilities and top-class safety. In addition, the company also confirmed that the current-generation model will continue to sell alongside the Scorpio Classic.

2022 New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio-N: Features
Mahindra has confirmed that the New-Gen Scorpio-N SUV will be equipped with advanced modern features to make it an appealing choice for the young tech-savvy buyers. The SUV will get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, 360-degree parking camera, all-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, electronic sunroof and more.

2022 New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio-N: Seating Configuration and Safety features
The new SUV will have a front-facing third row of seats unlike the current-gen model, which is done to enhance the safety aspect for the customers. The SUV will be offered in 6 and 7 seater configurations, while the former will have captain seats for the second row.
In terms of safety, Mahindra is aiming at a 5-Star GNCAP Rating with the new car and hence is expected to provide ADAS features on the top trims. Other safety equipment would include six airbags, traction control, electronic stability program, hill start assist, hill descent control and a type pressure monitoring system.

2022 New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio-N: Powertrain
Mahindra has confirmed that the vehicle will come equipped with both petrol and diesel powertrain options. The SUV will feature a 2.0-litre GDI mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel powertrain with the option of both 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as seen on the Thar and the XUV700. The four-wheeler will be underpinned by a ladder frame construction with both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and 4X4 configuration. The AWD system features low range, differential lock and off-road terrain modes.
2022 New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio-N: Expected Price and Rivals
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N is expected to bear an introductory price tag starting from Rs. 11 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Like its sibling the Mahindra XUV700, the Scorpio-N will rival the likes of the Tata Harrier, Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector and Hector Plus in its segment.
