BMW India is planning to launch the X3 M40i in India very soon. The X3 M40i is the performance-oriented variant in the SUV’s lineup. It gets a mildly different exterior styling and a more powerful powertrain.
Compared to the regular X3, the M40i gets some distinct styling elements like the new M-specific kidney grille with twin-vertical slats, M Sport front and rear bumpers, new design 19-inch alloy wheels and more.
On the inside, the X3 M40i stays largely similar to the standard X3 that is equipped with M Sport Package. The biggest difference is that an M badge replaces the X3 plaque in the centre console.
In terms of features, the X3 M40i gets a dual 12.3-inch screen setup for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heads-up display, multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 16-speaker audio setup from Harman Kardon, M leather steering wheel, M interior trim with Sensatec perforated leather upholstery, Sport seats, a 360-degree camera, and more.

Powering the X3 M40i is a 3-litre, inline-six turbo-petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It makes 360 bhp with 500 Nm of max torque. The motor is mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The X3 M40i can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.
The X3 M40i is slated to be launched in India next week, with deliveries to begin the following month in May. Globally, the M40i rivals the likes of the Audi SQ5, Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, and the Porsche Macan S.
