BYD is planning to introduce its third EV model in the Indian market. Named Seal, this electric sedan is slated to launch on the 5th of March 2024. If you don’t remember, this is the same vehicle that was showcased last year at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. Ahead of its official launch, the details for the upcoming BYD Seal EV have surfaced online.
Here is what has been revealed so far:
The India-Spec Seal EV will come powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack with rear-wheel drive. The rear axle-mounted single motor is said to generate a maximum power output of 227 bhp with 360 Nm of peak torque. It is believed that the four-wheeler will return an impressive range of 570 kms (WLTP cycle). Further, the car is expected to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds, as claimed by BYD.
For charging, the EV is equipped to handle charging rates reaching 150 kW. The battery can be charged 10 to 80 percent in 37 minutes or from 0 to 100 percent in 8.6 hours using an 11 kW AC charger.
In terms of exterior design, the electric sedan will exhibit a coupe-like appearance. It will have an all-glass roof, split LED headlights with 4 boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, aero-optimized wheels, flush-fitting door handles, and a full-width LED light bar at the rear.
Inside, the Seal EV will boast a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the centre console, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual wireless charging pads, a Heads-Up Display, and much more.
According to media reports, the Chinese automobile manufacturer could launch the Seal EV next month on the 5th of March. It is likely to be priced at Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Talking about its rivals, the electric vehicle will take on the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in its segment.
