iCar V23 EV spotted again in India Rear design details revealed in testing Launch likely by end of 2026
The upcoming Chery iCar V23 has been spotted testing in India once again, this time near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The latest sighting reveals new details, especially about the rear design, as the EV continues real-world highway testing.
With multiple sightings now reported, the development of this electric SUV for India seems to be moving at a steady pace.

The biggest highlight from the latest spy shots is the rear section of the Chery iCar V23.
The SUV appears to have a more upright and squared-off rear profile. Even though the test mule is heavily camouflaged, the tailgate looks flat and clean, giving it a rugged and practical look.
The tail lamps seem to be placed lower than usual, possibly integrated into the bumper. While final design details are still hidden, the overall stance looks tough and functional, matching its lifestyle SUV positioning.

The test vehicle was seen running on steel wheels, which usually indicates early-stage testing or lower-spec variants.
This suggests that Chery Automobile and JSW Motors are still working on fine-tuning the product. The heavy camouflage also hints that the final India-spec design is yet to be fully revealed.
JSW Motors is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. This plant will play a key role in bringing new products to India in partnership with Chery.
While a plug-in hybrid SUV could arrive first, the iCar V23 remains one of the most important EVs planned for the Indian market. It is expected to be locally assembled and may even get a different name for India.
Globally, the Chery iCar V23 is positioned as a rugged electric SUV with multiple configurations.
It is available with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setups. Battery options range from around 47 kWh to over 80 kWh, with a claimed range of up to 500 km.
For India, the final specifications are not confirmed yet, but a similar multi-variant approach is likely.

With testing now happening across different locations, the India launch seems to be getting closer.
JSW’s manufacturing facility is expected to be operational by August 2026, which could align with the launch of the iCar V23 towards the end of the year.
Once launched, it will enter the growing lifestyle electric SUV segment and compete with upcoming EVs from brands like Mahindra.
