The much-anticipated Nissan’s upcoming C-segment SUV is all set to make its global debut on October 7, 2025. The company has not revealed the name of the SUV, but it will launch in mid-2026. Nissan’s Senior VP of Global Design, Alfonso Albaisa, and Senior Design Director, Ken Lee will present the “design vision” of the upcoming midsize SUV.
Previous media reports claim that the upcoming midsize SUV could be called the Nissan Kait; however, official announcement is yet to be made. The upcoming SUV will challenge the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the category.
The upcoming Nissan C-SUV will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform that also underpins the third-gen Renault Duster. For people not in the know, the new Duster will go on sale in our market in early 2026. Both SUVs will be produced at Renault’s Chennai based production facility for domestic and international markets.
The new Nissan C-SUV is likely to be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The lower-spec variants could get the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol or a 1.5L NA petrol engines. The SUV will also receive a strong hybrid powertrain at a later stage.
Nissan has confirmed that the new SUV’s styling will be inspired by the brand’s globally popular Patrol. The SUV will carry its unique design, which is significantly different from the Duster. Its official teasers reveal that the SUV will carry an upright stance with smooth surfaces and squarish design for front and wheel arches.
The SUV comes equipped with Nissan’s signature grille with two thin chrome stripes running across its length. It is likely to get LED headlamps with connected DRLs, and a C-shaped elements in the lower bumper. Other design highlights include a roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna, an aggressive lower bumper, flared wheel arches and a flatter roof with usable roof rails.
The new Nissan SUV interiors are yet to be revealed, but we expect the new model to share the features with the new Duster. The SUV will have a unique design layout in-sync with Nissan’s global design language. Some of the features could include a triple screen dash, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and powered driver’s seat. The SUV will also come with a panoramic sunroof and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech.
