Honda is offering the new-gen Amaze in CNG variants too, but with a set of conditions. While the other car manufacturers are giving factory-fitted CNG models, Honda does not have this facility. Instead, they are partnering with RTO-approved CNG retrofitting centers with select Honda dealers for the conversion.
The CNG option is available for Honda Amaze, City, and Elevate models. It is available at the dealer level and comes for private buyers alone. Like other carmakers Maruti, Tata, and Hyundai, Honda doesn't have any factory-fitted CNG options. It operates on the principle wherein a car is first registered as a petrol model and is later changed to a petrol-CNG variant after it undergoes the conversion process. This additional step takes some extra time during the process of registration.
Another important point is that only the manual transmission of Amaze supports CNG conversion. The individuals opting for CNG shall not be allowed to use the automatic CVT options.
The factory warranty will not be lost for those customers who would prefer the CNG conversion. Honda ensures that, in case proper paperwork is done at the dealership, the warranty will remain valid. The new Honda Amaze carries a standard warranty of 3 years or unlimited kilometers. Additionally, an extended warranty can be availed up to 7 years or unlimited kilometers. Anytime Warranty will cover up to 10 years or 1.20 lakh kilometers.
The Amaze comes with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine generating 88.76 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. While running on CNG, the car will definitely lose a bit of power, but still, the biggest advantage the CNG option has is good fuel efficiency. The fuel efficiency of the petrol model of Amaze is pegged at 18.65 kmpl with a manual and 19.46 kmpl with CVT. With CNG, the mileage of the car will be even better.
The conversion cost for the new Amaze is around Rs 1 lakh. This is a general price for any car brand's retrofitting with CNG. However, the conversion cost and charges to be paid as state taxes may vary.
