Honda Cars India Limited has announced that it has achieved a key sales milestone with 50,000 ADAS enabled cars now on Indian roads. This achievement underscores "HCIL's commitment to Honda's global vision of "safety for Everyone" and its goal to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050."
Honda had introduced its intelligent ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology in India with the launch of Honda City e:HEV in May 2022. HCIL has also added this tech to other models in its line up including Honda City, Honda Elevate and the newly launched Honda Amaze. In fact, the 3rd generation Amaze is the most affordable ADAS enabled car in India.
The Honda SENSING ADAS equipped variants account for over 60%, 95% and 30% in sales of Elevate, City and Amaze, respectively. Among customers who opted for ADAS-equipped models, 1 in every 2 chose the advanced safety technology as their primary reason for purchase.
Honda Cars India Limited was the first automaker in the country to introduce ADAS in manual transmission (MT) variants with the Honda City in 2023. Currently V, VX and ZX grades of Honda City, ZX grade of Honda Elevate and ZX grade of Honda Amaze are all equipped with Honda SENSING in both MT and CVT and as standard offering in Honda City e:HEV.
Honda SENSING is an ADAS tech which uses a high performance front wide-view camera that scans the road ahead recognizing road lines, road boundaries and detect other objects in both day and nighttime. The ADAS features include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist System, Lead Car Departure Notification and Auto High-Beam.
