Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE 6 will launch in January 2025. The Creta EV offers up to 473km range and BE 6 promises 556km. The Creta EV charges 10–80% in 58 mins, while the BE 6 does 20–80% in 20 mins via fast chargers. The BE 6 comes with several high-tech features.
The EV (electric vehicle) segment in India is set to witness major product launches this year. OEMs such as Hyundai, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Toyota, and BYD have planned multiple launches across different price ranges. In January 2025, two significant electric SUVs will hit showrooms – the Hyundai Creta EV and the Mahindra BE 6. The South Korean automaker will officially unveil the Creta EV and announce its prices at this year’s Bharat Mobility Show.
Mahindra & Mahindra will reveal the complete price list of its born-electric BE 6 SUV. Its entry-level Pack 1 variant will come at an introductory price of ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Let’s check how these two upcoming electric midsize SUVs compare in terms of specifications and features.

Hyundai’s first mass-market EV, the Creta EV, will be offered with 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery packs, promising an ARAI-claimed range of 390 km and 473 km, respectively. This EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The carmaker has not yet disclosed its power and torque outputs. Three drive modes are available – Eco, Normal, and Sport. It also features a single-pedal driving technology called i-Pedal.

Mahindra’s new born-electric SUV comes with two battery packs – 59kWh and 79kWh – utilizing LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells. The 59kWh battery delivers a maximum power of 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The larger battery pack, on the other hand, generates 281 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. Both versions come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) as the standard configuration. Mahindra claims that the BE 6 in its higher-spec version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. It offers three drive modes – Range, Everyday, and Race – along with an additional Boost mode. The ARAI-rated range of the Mahindra BE 6 is 550 km with the larger battery and 556 km with the smaller battery pack.
The South Korean automaker states that the Creta EV can be charged using a DC fast charger or an 11kW AC wall box charger. It can charge from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes via DC charging and from 10 percent to 100 percent in 4 hours using the AC charger.

Mahindra BE 6 supports a 175kW DC fast charger, enabling it to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. The carmaker also offers an 11.2kW AC charger and a 7.3kW AC charger. With these, the BE 6 can be fully charged in 8 hours (79kWh)/6 hours (59kWh) and 11.7 hours (79kWh)/8.7 hours (59kWh), respectively.
The Creta EV features a new steering wheel similar to the global-spec Kona EV. Its floating center console adds a modern touch. The electric SUV offers features such as Hyundai’s digital key, 360-degree cameras, a panoramic sunroof, vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems).

Other features are carried over from the regular Creta, including leatherette upholstery, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, blind-spot monitor, auto day/night IRVM, an 8-speaker Bose audio system with a subwoofer, active cruise control, keyless entry and start, BlueLink connected car technology, Alexa integration, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, and an electronic parking brake.
Mahindra’s new born-electric SUV stays true to its concept, offering a cockpit-like cabin with advanced features. It includes dual 12.3-inch floating screens powered by the new MAIA software, which supports over 30 pre-installed apps. The BE 6 is the first vehicle in its segment to feature an augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD). It boasts a twin-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo and a floating center console equipped with a rotary drive mode selector, cup holders, wireless charging, and an aircraft throttle-style drive selector.
The top-end variant of the Mahindra BE 6 includes exclusive features such as a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, 5G connectivity with in-built Wi-Fi, an in-car camera, a larger panoramic sunroof with integrated multi-color lighting patterns, OTA updates, dual-zone climate control, auto-park assist, an electronic parking brake, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, and a powered driver’s seat with memory function. For enhanced performance, Mahindra has equipped the BE 6 with semi-active suspension, adjustable regenerative braking, brake-by-wire technology, electric power steering with variable gear ratios, and disc brakes on all four wheels.
