Hyundai to Reveal Its Largest EV Soon

Hyundai has confirmed that it will soon reveal its largest electric vehicle. The company shared a teaser ahead of the upcoming Brussels Motor Show, using the caption “Biggest EV yet.” While Hyundai has not officially named the model, the teaser strongly points toward an electric version of the Hyundai Staria MPV.

What the Teaser Reveals

The teaser image does not show the full vehicle, but the LED DRL placement and Hyundai logo position closely match earlier test mules of the Hyundai Staria Electric. The design appears similar to the recently unveiled 2026 Hyundai Staria with an ICE powertrain, suggesting both versions share the same base design.

The electric version is expected to get EV-specific updates such as a closed-off grille, a front-mounted charging port, and a revised lower grille design. The headlamp housing shape appears unchanged, though details like alloy wheel design could be new. Features such as powered sliding rear doors are likely to be retained.

Rear Design Expected to Remain Similar

At the rear, the Hyundai Staria uses a flat tailgate with a large rear windscreen, a roof-mounted spoiler, and vertically stacked pixel-style tail lamps. The upcoming Hyundai EV is expected to carry forward the same layout, maintaining consistency between the ICE and electric versions.

Link to Iveco eMoovy

An electric version of the Staria already exists in Europe under the Iveco eMoovy name. This model was developed through a partnership between Hyundai and Iveco Group and is sold in several European markets. Its existence confirms that the Staria platform is compatible with electric powertrains.

The Iveco eMoovy comes with 63 kWh and 76 kWh battery options. The larger battery offers a WLTP range of up to 320 km, while the smaller one delivers around 265 km. Power comes from a single electric motor producing 218 PS.

Charging and EV Technology

Hyundai has stated that its largest EV will use advanced electric technology. This could include an 800-volt electrical architecture, similar to what is used in the Iveco eMoovy. With a 350 kW DC fast charger, the eMoovy can add around 100 km of range in about 10 minutes. A similar setup is expected for Hyundai’s new EV.

India Launch Possibility

Hyundai showcased the ICE-powered Hyundai Staria at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, indicating interest in the premium MPV segment. The Staria could be considered for India as an alternative to models like the Kia Carnival. However, while the ICE version has potential for the Indian market, the electric Staria is unlikely to be launched in India in the near future.

For now, Hyundai’s focus remains on global markets as it expands its portfolio of upcoming electric cars and upcoming Hyundai EV models.
