Kia India has officially released a teaser video on its social media handles, hinting its soon-to-be-launched models for the country. The teaser also confirms that the company will launch a pure electric SUV and an all-new hybrid-powered vehicle. Both vehicles are likely to debut in the second half of July 2026. It is expected that the battery electric vehicle will be the long-awaited Kia Syros EV, while the hybrid-powered model will be the 7-seater SUV based on the new Sorento.

At the global investor day event earlier this year, Kia had announced to launch the Syros EV and the Sorento hybrid SUV in the Indian market this year.

Kia Syros EV Dual Port Charger

Set to be the smallest and most affordable electric offering from Kia in India, the Syros EV will take on the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and the MG Windsor EV. It will be built on the K1 architecture, which will also underpin Hyundai’s upcoming small electric SUV. The Kia Syros EV will be a front-wheel-drive SUV, and is expected to be offered with two battery options - a 42kWh Standard Range and a 49kWh Long Range. Both are paired to a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Kia would be aiming to offer a realistic range of around 350-400km on a single charge.

The spy images reveal that the Kia Syros EV will look similar to the regular model, except for the few EV-specific changes. The electric SUV will come with a blanked-off front profile, NEO or Lime Green colour brake callipers and front-fender mounted charging port.

Kia Sorento 7-Seater Hybrid India Launch

The Korean automaker is actively testing the Sorento 7-seater SUV for the Indian market. Likely to be launched by Diwali 2026, the new SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari. The SUV’s bodyshell was recently spotted being transported on a truck bed, suggesting a higher level of localisation to keep its pricing competitive. We expect the Sorento 7-Seat to cost somewhere around Rs 30 lakh.

In terms of proportions, the Kia Sorento is 4815mm long, 1900mm wide and 1700mm tall. The SUV rides on a 2815mm long wheelbase. Compared to the XUV 7XO, the Sorento is 120mm longer, 10mm wider and 55mm shorter. In fact, its wheelbase is around 65mm longer than the XUV 7XO.

The India-spec model is reportedly to get a 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain, which will also power the Kia Seltos hybrid and the next-gen Hyundai Creta. Kia could also utilise the 1.6L hybrid engine that powers the new Seltos in Europe.
