Kia India is actively working on the electric iteration of Carens. The brand aims to enter the electric vehicle market with its mass-market cars including Carens EV and Syros EV. A few months ago, the Carens EV was seen testing in India, and now, the electric MPV has been spotted charging in South Korea.
This latest sighting of Kia Carens EV gives a clearer look at its design changes, setting it apart from the petrol and diesel versions.
Here is what we know so far about the all-new Kia Syros EV:
The Carens EV will retain its overall shape and styling, keeping it similar to the ICE version. However, a few key design elements will set it apart as an electric vehicle. These include a blanked-off grille, a charging port mounted on the front fender, and aerodynamic alloy wheels. Additionally, the EV will feature revised LED headlamps and DRLs, along with redesigned tail lamps connected by a sleek light bar, giving it a distinct and modern look.
The electrified Carens is expected to come with several upgraded features for a more advanced and convenient driving experience. It could include a 360-degree camera for better visibility, a Level 2 ADAS suite for enhanced safety, and a redesigned dashboard layout. The centre console may also be revised to offer more storage space, while the infotainment system and instrument panel are likely to get an upgraded interface for a more modern and user-friendly experience.
Details about the Carens EV’s powertrain, battery pack, and specifications are yet to be revealed. However, it is expected to come with a battery pack offering a claimed range of around 400-450 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, Kia is also working on a facelifted version of the Carens, which could be launched before the EV model makes its debut.
