Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is gearing up to launch the Urus S in India on the 13th of April 2023. Currently, the brand offers only the Urus Performante in India which is priced at Rs 4.22 crore (ex-showroom). The New Lamborghini Urus S is oriented more towards comfort, and is likely to be slotted below the Performante in terms of price.
Since its launch in 2018, the Urus is the best-selling Lamborghini ever with over 20,000 units sold till date. The New Urus S was introduced globally last year and effectively replaces the standard Urus in the brand’s product lineup.
While both SUVs share the same silhouette and design, there are subtle differences between the Urus S and the Performante. The biggest change is that the Urus S gets a single-tone bonnet with cooling vents instead of a dual-tone hood of the Performante. Other changes include a new front bumper with horizontal slats and a matte-black stainless steel skid plate. Towards the rear, Urus S misses out on the Performante’s boot lid spoiler while the bumper has been slightly redesigned as well.
Moving inside, the Urus S retains the basic interior layout of the older model. However, it does get different materials for the upholstery and dashboard. Lamborghini India is expected to offer its Ad Personam program with this variant. This allows you to personalize even the smallest of equipment like choosing the type of seam stitching and colour for the interior.
Lamborghini Urus S will get the same powertrain as the Performante - a 4-litre twin-turbo petrol motor that delivers a power output of 666 bhp with 850 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty here will be managed by a 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The biggest difference between the Urus S and the Performante is in their suspension. The former uses an adaptive air suspension setup while the Performante sits on lowered, non-adjustable coil springs.
The adaptive air suspension also means the SUV will provide multiple traction-control modes including - Strada, Sport, and Corsa (Street, Sport and Track) for on road and Sabbia, Neve and Terra (Sand, Snow and Mud) for off-roading capabilities.
In India, the Lamborghini Urus S will rival the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, Aston Martin DBX, BMW XM, Audi RS Q8, and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S.
