The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is testing 4 compact SUVs to further strengthen its market position. These 4 SUVs sits under 4 meters in length, and this segment is dominated by Maruti Suzuki. These 4 compact SUVs includes a couple of facelifted models, an all-new model and an electric derivative of the XUV 3XO. Let’s talk about these 4 new models in detail -
Mahindra is actively testing the Thar 3-door facelift, which is scheduled to be launched in the end of September 2025. Going by the spy images, it is clear that the lifestyle SUV will receive significant design and interior changes inspired by the Thar Roxx. It will come with an all-new front fascia, featuring a new front grille, signature round LED projector headlamp unit and an updated lower bumper. Other changes will include new LED tail-lights and new 5-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the Mahindra Thar facelift will have a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Another update is the positioning of the power window switch control panel on door panels instead of the centre console in current car. It could also get a new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The SUV won’t receive any mechanical changes. The engine options will include a 1.5L diesel, a 2.2L diesel and a 2.0L turbo petrol.
The homegrown UV maker is testing the electric version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, which is expected to be launched sometime in the Q1, 2026. The new XUV 3XO EV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windsor EV. It will replace the XUV 400, which failed to mark a strong impact in the compact EV segment.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV looks largely identical to the ICE-powered model, except for the few EV-specific changes. It is likely to come with two battery packs, a 34.5kWh and a 39.4kWh. The electric SUV should offer a realistic range of around 300-350km on a single charge.
Mahindra has also started testing the updated Bolero Neo on the Indian roads. The exterior changes only limited to its front profile, featuring a modified grille with prominent horizontal slats. The bumper has been reworked with air-dam also gets horizontal slats.
The cabin is likely to receive major changes. It is expected to get a reworked dashboard housing a larger and modern 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a new driver’s display. The SUV is also likely to get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with advanced connectivity features. It will continue to be offered with a 1.5L 3-cylinder mHawk 100 diesel engine that produces 100bhp and 260Nm. Transmission choices could include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
Mahindra had showcased the Vision S concept based on the new NU_IQ modular platform on August 15, 2025. The company has already started testing the SUV on the Indian roads. It is expected to be launched sometime late 2026 or early 2027.
The new SUV is expected to be the smallest member of the Scorpio family. It will be a sub-4 meter SUV and could come as a replacement for the Bolero Neo. The new model will be offered with multiple engine choices including petrol, hybrid and electric.
