Mahindra Vision S SUV Coming Soon – Multiple Engines, New Platform & Features

Mahindra Vision S tests ahead of 2026 debut. New NU_IQ platform supports ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains.

The Mahindra Vision S rugged subcompact SUV is undergoing extensive testing ahead of its official debut in late 2026. The production-ready version is expected to go on sale in 2027. In the sub-4m SUV segment, it will rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Skoda Kylaq. Upcoming Renault Bridger and Tata Scarlet rugged lifestyle SUVs will also be positioned against the Vision S.

Mahindra’s All-New Platform

Several spy images and videos revealed intriguing design and interior details of the SUV. The production-ready Mahindra Vision S will debut the brand’s NU_IQ monocoque modular architecture, which will also underpin the upcoming Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT concepts-based SUVs. This platform is compatible with ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric powertrains. Therefore, there is possibility that the Vision S could be offered with multiple engine options.

Design Details

Similar to the concept, the production-spec Mahindra Vision S will feature an upright stance with squared-off wheel arches. Spy shots reveal that the SUV might sport circular headlamps, thick cladding under the doors and wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles and tailgate mounted spare wheel. However, the road-spec version will be slightly toned down and miss styling elements such as roof-mounted lights, a jerry can, stepladder and bonnet-mounted limb risers.

Expected Features

Previous spy images suggest that the SUV will retain the dashboard and centre console from the concept. It will offer a mix of physical buttons and touch-sensitive controls. Lower trims are expected to get an old-school analogue instrument cluster with a small MID along with manually adjustable AC dials, fabric seat upholstery.

Features such as a full-length panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control and several other advanced equipment could be reserved for the higher trims. The SUV might also offer split-folding tyre rear seats along with multiple storage compartments throughout the cabin.

Engine & Gearbox Options

According to reports, the Mahindra Vision S could be offered with the brand’s proven 1.5L, four-cylinder diesel engine, sourced from the XUV 3XO. However, this motor could be calibrated for generating higher power output for the Vision S. The lineup is also expected to include a petrol engine initially, while the hybrid and electric powertrains might be introduced at a later stage. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
