Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, in India by September 2025. This all-electric SUV has already made its debut in the UK and is exported from India, marking a major milestone for Maruti’s EV journey.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will use a compact eAxle developed in collaboration with Toyota, Aisin, and Denso under a group called BluE Nexus. This unit combines a motor, inverter, and transmission into one compact system, similar to what’s used in Tesla, BMW, and Hyundai EVs.
The front-mounted motor is designed to fit easily under the bonnet and delivers between 144 hp and 174 hp. A rear motor producing 108 hp could be offered later with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version, possibly debuting first on a Toyota-badged variant.

To keep the eAxle small and efficient, it uses double-sided cooling and high-efficiency magnets. The inverter is also housed within the main motor unit, reducing weight and improving space usage—ideal for more room in the cabin and boot.
The India-spec e Vitara will come with a 61kWh battery, offering a range of around 500 km on a single charge. This makes it suitable for both city drives and longer road trips.
The e Vitara is expected to be priced starting from Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. In the UK, the electric SUV is priced between Rs 35.05 lakh and Rs 44.16 lakh (converted). Several Maruti dealerships in India have already started showcasing the e Vitara and are accepting offline bookings.
