Maruti Suzuki is currently selling the Grand Vitara in the midsize SUV category. This SUV is retailed via NEXA premium dealerships, which has 600 dealers across India. The company is now ready to launch an all-new midsize SUV, rumoured to be called the Victoris (Escudo), on September 3, 2025. Maruti Suzuki will position this SUV as a mass-market midsize SUV targeting buyers who are not interested in Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and event its own NEXA Grand Vitara.
The new Maruti Suzuki Escudo will be the new flagship ARENA SUV and is likely to be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. The ARENA dealership network has more than 3,000 dealerships across India. The Escudo will be more accessible to masses, and could help MSIL to achieve its ambitious plan of re-capturing 50% market share.

This is an old Maruti Suzuki strategy of selling two products based on the same platform from NEXA and ARENA dealerships. MSIL is selling the Ertiga through ARENA dealerships, while the XL6 6-seater is retailed through NEXA premium dealership network.
The new Escudo will be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the Grand Vitara. The new model is reportedly to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, which will help MSIL to create more space in the boot. The SUV will have new body panels and a differently styled front and rear profile to give it a fresh look. Moreover, Escudo is reportedly to come with several first features for any Maruti Suzuki car in India.
First Maruti car with LEVEL-2 ADAS
DOLBY ATMOS for immersive sound experience
Could get powered tailgate
A larger touchscreen infotainment unit
Panoramic Sunroof
Digital Driver’s display
Powered driver’s seat
6 Airbags
ESP with traction control
The new Victoris (Escudo) is likely to come with 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5L TNGA hybrid powertrain and a CNG option. It is reported that the SUV could be the first model to feature an underbody CNG kit. The 1.5L NA version could also get an AWD set-up, which is also available with the Grand Vitara. The hybrid version should offer a mileage of close to 27-28kmpl.
