The long-awaited Maruti Suzuki Victoris or Escudo mid-sized SUV will finally go on sale in the country tomorrow. The company has not revealed the official name, but media reports suggest that the SUV could be called the Maruti Victoris. For people not in the know, Maruti Suzuki has already registered the Victoris and Escudo names in India.
Model Name | Estimated Price |
Victoris | Rs. 10.5 lakh - 18.5 Lakh |
The new Victoris will be sold through ARENA dealership network as its flagship model. It will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, and will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others. We expect the Maruti Victoris price in India could start at Rs 10.5 lakh and goes up to Rs 18.5 lakh.
The new Victoris will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Grand Vitara. It will share the engine options with the NEXA sibling, which is offered with a 1.5L NA petrol, a Toyota-sourced 1.5L TNGA hybrid and a 1.5L petrol + CNG option.
- The naturally-aspirated petrol engine is capable of producing 102bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The automatic version is also expected to receive an AWD (all-wheel-drive) option.
- In the CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 87bhp and 121.5Nm, respectively. The CNG version will only be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, which sends the power to the front wheels.
- It is reported that the Victoris or Escudo will be the first model to feature an underbody CNG kit, which will help Maruti Suzuki to free up space in the boot.
- The hybrid version has a 1.5L, 3-cylinder, 12-valve DOHC with strong hybrid tech. Paired to an e-CVT, the hybrid unit offers a combined power and torque output of 116bhp and 141Nm, respectively.
The new model is reportedly to be the first Maruti in India to feature LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. It will have features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, auto high beam and others.
The SUV is reportedly to get a powered tailgate, a premium sound system with DOLBY Atmos audio tech, a fixed glass roof/panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
The Victoris could also get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, both are offered with the e Vitara.
