Mercedes-Benz India has launched the AMG CLE 53 Coupe at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.35 crore. Positioned above the CLE 300 Cabriolet, this performance-focused coupe carries a premium of Rs 20 lakh. With this launch, Mercedes-AMG’s India line-up now includes 10 models.
The AMG CLE 53 Coupe sports a bold and sporty look with a large black Panamericana grille featuring vertical slats and an ‘AMG’ badge. It also gets a functional hood scoop, sleek LED projector headlights, and a bumper with large air intakes for improved cooling.
Customers can choose from six standard colours – Sun Yellow, Patagonia Red Metallic, Spectral Blue, Opalite White, Alpine Grey, and Obsidian Black – along with two optional shades, Spectral Blue Magno and Graphite Grey, available at an extra cost.
Inside, the CLE 53 shares most of its layout with the CLE 300, including an 11.9-inch portrait infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and three central AC vents. However, the AMG model adds a 3-spoke Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching and extra touch controls.
Other highlights include:
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- 64-colour ambient lighting
- Burmester premium sound system
- Powered seats with memory
- Wireless phone charger
- Head-up display
The 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system produces 449hp and 560Nm (+40Nm with Overboost). Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes’ 4Matic+ AWD system.
Performance figures include:
0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds
Top speed: 250 km/h (270 km/h with AMG Performance Package)
The CLE 53 AMG’s closest rival is the BMW M2 (460hp, 550Nm), priced at Rs 1.03 crore. While the BMW is Rs 32 lakh cheaper, the Mercedes offers a more premium package with AMG styling and features.
