At the launch of its recent car, Mercedes Benz India had committed to launching the locally assembled, Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4 Matic+, at the end of September 2022. Keeping up with its words, Mercedes Benz India has announced the introduction of the new electric sedan on the 30th of September 2022.
This CKD Mercedes car model will be based on the same EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) platform as the AMG model. The four-wheeler will come with a 107.8 kWh battery pack mated to two electric motors producing 523 bhp and 865 Nm of peak torque. The EV is expected to return a claimed driving range of up to 770 kilometres on a full charge. Once launched this sedan will hold the crown for the longest range EV in the country.

In terms of design, the EQS 580 will largely resemble its sporty AMG counterpart, excluding some sporty design bits. Upfront, the blanked-off front grille flanked gets an altogether different treatment with small dotted elements as opposed to vertical slats on the AMG line. We can also notice a reworked front and rear bumper along with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the EQS 580 will feature Mercedes Benz’s unique 56-inch Hyperscreen set-up along with a few enhancements to the upholstery and colour theme.
The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 is expected to be priced starting at Rs 1.9 crore (ex-showroom), almost Rs 50 lakh cheaper than the AMG model. The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4 Matic will take on the likes of Porsche Taycan and Audi e-Tron GT in India.
