Second luxury EV from Mercedes Benz; First electric AMG model; New flagship electric sedan of the German Automaker
Mercedes Benz India today launched its first AMG electric model with the EQS 53 4MATIC+ in the country. Priced at Rs 2.45 crore, the luxury electric sedan offers powerful performance along with futuristic interiors.

On the outside, the EQS AMG sports the brands familiar electric design. Finished with sleek likes and an aerodynamic body, the four-wheeler gets an overall sporty appeal. The front end is characterised by the large faux Pan-American front grille finished in chrome, sleek LED headlamp with DRLs and large air inlets at the bottom. The car also gets a drooping nose, that gives the car its sporty character. Other highlights include new design for the aero wheels, aggressive splitter, body-coloured diffuser and a prominent boot lip spoiler.

Moving to the interiors of the EQS AMG, we get to see an all-new layout dominated to by the MBUX Hyerscreen. This 56-inch-wide display is the brains of everything inside the vehicle. There are 3 separate displays which include the central infotainment unit, the digital drivers display and a new 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. Other highlights of the cain include new ‘Sound of the Future’ technology that gives the EV its voice, active ambient lighting and an Energizing Air Control Plus air purifier system among others. Excluding this the car get all the major bells and whistles seen on the S-Class. Keeping sustainability in mind, the brand has used recycled ocean plastics (fishing nets) and carpet scraps for the interior of the new model.

The EQS 54 4MATIC+ comes with a 107.8 kW battery producing 560bhp and a colossal 1020 Nm of torque. The sedan can sprint from 0-100 kmph in under 3.2 seconds before maxing out at 250 kmph. The first car to be built on the brand’s new EVA2 architecture, the EQS AMG get a class leading drag co-efficient of 0.20. The car is also provided with a rear-wheel steering and a DC fast charging capacity of up to 200 kW.

The longest-range EV at launch, the EQS AMG 53 4MATIC+ gets a WLTP range of 529-586 kilometres.

At launch the EQS is available in the AMG trim only with price starting at Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom). The car rivals the likes of the Audi RS e-tron GT and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S in its segment.
Mercedes Benz India has also committed to the launch of two new electric products in the coming four months. The brand is expected to launch the made in India, EQS 580 next month, with the EQB SUV to follow soon.
