First-ever Maybach MPV officially confirmed Luxury van to offer lounge-like cabin experience Launch expected after standard VLS debut
The ultra luxury car segment is evolving fast. For years, sedans dominated this space, followed by the rise of luxury SUVs. Now, a new trend is picking up; ultra luxury MPVs. Joining this shift, Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed its first-ever Maybach MPV, the Mercedes Maybach VLS.
Luxury buyers today are looking for more space, comfort, and flexibility. This is where MPVs are gaining attention, especially in markets like Asia.
Models such as the Lexus LM have already shown that buyers are open to van-like body styles if they offer a premium, lounge-like experience. The upcoming Mercedes Maybach VLS is expected to take this concept even further.

The announcement was made by Ola Kallenius during the unveiling of the updated Mercedes Maybach S-Class.
The Mercedes Maybach VLS will be positioned as a grand limousine, offering top-level comfort in an MPV format. It will be based on the standard Mercedes VLS.
Both the Mercedes VLS and the Maybach version will be built on Mercedes’ new Van.EA electric platform. This platform will also underpin the Mercedes VLE.
These upcoming models are part of the brand’s broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup in the luxury segment.
The standard Mercedes VLS is expected to debut soon and could go into production by late 2026.
The more premium Mercedes Maybach VLS is likely to follow in 2027.

The Maybach VLS will focus heavily on rear-seat comfort and luxury. Expected highlights include:
The design is expected to take inspiration from the Vision V Concept.
While official powertrain details are not revealed yet, both VLS models will be fully electric. The Mercedes VLE offers battery packs of 80 kWh and 115 kWh, and the VLS could get even larger options.
For comfort, air suspension is expected to be included, ensuring a smooth ride quality.
With the arrival of the Mercedes Maybach VLS, competition in the ultra luxury MPV space is set to grow. It will rival models like the Lexus LM.
As buyers continue to prioritise space, comfort, and exclusivity, luxury MPVs could soon become the next big thing in the premium car market.
