MG Motor India has just refreshed its Comet EV lineup, focusing on improving its charging speed. Additionally, new features have also been introduced into these variants. Prices for the MG Comet EV now start from Rs 6.99 lakh and go up to Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom), in India.
The Comet, previously offered in Pace, Play, and Plush trims, has now been renamed to Executive, Excite, and Exclusive. Notably, the fast-charging option is now exclusively available for the Excite and Exclusive variants.
Previously equipped with a slow 3.3kW AC charger, the car now features a faster 7.4kW AC charger, representing a substantial upgrade. However, the company has not yet disclosed the precise charging time.
In addition to the faster charging capability, the fast-charging variants also boast several noteworthy feature enhancements compared to the regular trim. These enhancements include an Electronic Parking Brake, Hill Hold Control, rear disc brakes, ESC, power foldable wing mirrors now matching the body color, and a creep mode.
The electric vehicle is equipped with a 17.3kWh battery pack, offering an ARAI-certified range of 230 kms. Its powertrain comprises a single electric motor located on the rear axle, delivering a power output of 42 bhp with 110 Nm of peak torque.
Recently, MG reduced the prices of the Comet EV by up to Rs 1.40 lakh to stimulate sales. Currently, the pricing structure for the entire range is as follows:
Executive: Rs 6.99 lakh
Excite: Rs 7.88 lakh
Excite FC: Rs 8.24 lakh
Exclusive: Rs 8.78 lakh
Exclusive FC: Rs 9.14 lakh
All prices mentioned above are (ex-showroom).
While the prices for the Executive and Excite trims remain consistent with the previous Pace and Play trims, the new Exclusive trim commands a Rs 20,000 premium over the outgoing Plush variant.
