MG Motors India has finally launched its most-talked about car in town, the Comet EV having a price tag of Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The electric hatchback will be available for test drives from the 27th of April 2023. Bookings for the same will open on the 15th of May 2023. While deliveries of the EV are expected to start from May itself.
According to Rajeev Chaba, President MG Motor India, the Comet EV is not for every potential buyer. This car is relevant for those who are seeking small and smart mobility options.
MG is providing many customization options with body wraps, stickers, accessories, and five colour options for its mini electric car. The single-tone colours include Starry Black, Candy White, and Aurora Silver while the dual-tone paint shades comprise Apple Green with Starry Black and Candy White with Starry Black.
The iSmart technology in the EV brings to the fore around 55 apps and up to 100 voice commands. The Comet EV provides a digital key which allows the car owner to share the vehicle with others. There is enough storage space inside the vehicle including the two hooks for hanging bags. It also offers a rotary dial for the purpose of driving the car and its two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls instantly reminds us of the old iPods.
Furthermore, the British automaker has laid emphasis on the safety of passengers. For this, the electric vehicle comes equipped with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, front and rear 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors, and a reverse parking camera.
MG Comet EV comes equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack and offers a certified range of 230 kms. Moreover, the battery has a prismatic cell design, suitable for longer battery life. It can be charged by using a conventional 16 AMP wall socket. The car features a single mounted motor on the rear axle. It generates a maximum power of 41 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. Besides, the electric vehicle offers three different drive modes namely Eco, Normal, and Sport.
