The biggest concerns for most car buyers is how much mileage a new car can offer. Fuel prices are increasing, and Indians are travelling a lot these days. So, in the long run, it can really prove to be great money-saving with good mileage. We compare here three of the most popular compact SUVs, that is Kia Syros, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
We'll compare each's performance, mileage, varied engine options, and practical real-world fuel economy for a better view.

The Kia Syros comes in a wide array of fuel efficiency figures according to the choice of an engine type as well as its transmission. Syros with diesel mileage gets 20.75 kmpl for the MT variants and 17.65 for AT. For the petrol versions, it has MT with returning 18.20 kmpl, and there is DCT with giving 17.68 kmpl. Since all these are ARAI-certified, it makes it perfect for someone mulling a long period mileage cost.
Maruti Brezza comes with a good image in the market. In its petrol variant, it gives a fuel efficiency of 20.15 kmpl. This would be a good buy for the seekers of a petrol-powered compact SUV. Moreover, the Brezza also comes in a CNG variant, through which it provides incredible mileage of 25.51 km/kg. It is therefore an added advantage for the people looking forward to having an eco-friendly and cost-effective option.
Mahindra XUV 3XO comes in three different variants with different mileage. Like the other two SUV, it also claims that the petrol manual version returns around 20.1 kmpl, while automatic returns 18.2 kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel variant shines at 20.6 kmpl ARAI certified. However, in reality, one can return diesel from up to 15kmpl and the return from the petrol variant may be achieved somewhere around 11-12kmpl as per conditions.
Kia Syros will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. In the form of petrol, it will come with a 1.0-litre turbo generating 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, while the diesel is to have a 1.5-litre making 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It can come with either the 6-speed manual or the 7-speed DCT.
The Maruti Brezza is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol and also with a CNG version. The petrol engine generates figures of 104 bhp, and 136.8 Nm of torque. The CNG variant generates lower figures, at 85 bhp and 121 Nm. It also comes with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with three engine options - a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mill which churns out 110 bhp and 200 Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel producing 115 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol with 129 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. It can be paired to either a 6-speed manual or automatic unit, while the latter comes paired to a 6-speed torque converter.
