New Honda 0 Alpha based SUV testing begins Launch confirmed for early 2027
Honda has officially started testing the much-anticipated 0 Alpha electric SUV on the Indian roads. This electric SUV will be manufactured at the brand’s Tapukara production plant in Rajasthan. Honda Cars India has confirmed that the new electric SUV will be launched in the Indian market in FY26-27, early next year. The SUV is covered in thick cloth, but the overall silhouette looks largely identical to the 0 Alpha concept.
The SUV will offer strong road presence, featuring an upright stance, flat tailgate and boxy shape. Following its tradition, Honda will focus on offering spacious and practical cabin. It will be a mid-size SUV to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV.
Honda Cars India stated that the new 0 Alpa midsize SUV will be tested across highways, city conditions and different terrains to evaluate durability, efficiency and overall performance. The electric SUV will additionally undergo testing in extreme heat and monsoon conditions, along with charging performance across various charging infrastructures.
The new model will be the most advanced and feature-loaded car in the Indian market. It will come with modern tech, featuring the brand’s new infotainment unit, digital driver’s display and connected car tech. The electric SUV will come with a newly designed steering wheel with mounted controls and paddle shifters for regenerative modes. The new Honda electric SUV will be developed for domestic and export markets. The company will make an investment of around Rs 1,200 crore for this project.
