Upcoming Mid-Size SUVs Offer Electric, Hybrid, and Facelift Options

Tata Sierra EV debut confirmed for June 30. Nissan Tekton expected to get a hybrid version later. Honda Elevate facelift could arrive by September.

The mid-size SUV segment is set to get even more exciting in the coming months. After several major launches in the first half of 2026, brands like Tata Motors, Nissan, and Honda are preparing new products for the Indian market.

From an all-electric SUV to a future hybrid offering and a facelifted model with more features, there is plenty to look forward to before the end of the year.

Tata Sierra EV to Arrive Soon

Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra.ev will make its global debut on June 30. The electric SUV is expected to be launched in India shortly after. While the overall design will remain close to the recently revealed Sierra, the EV version is expected to get a cleaner-looking front end. The cabin layout is also likely to remain largely unchanged.

Tata is expected to offer the Sierra.ev with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The electric SUV will also benefit from an independent rear suspension setup, which could improve ride comfort and handling.

Nissan Tekton to Join the Segment

Nissan is preparing to make a strong comeback in the mid-size SUV space with the all-new Tekton. The SUV will share its platform and mechanical components with the recently launched Renault Duster.

However, Nissan will give it a distinct identity with a different front-end design and styling inspired by the larger Nissan Patrol. Engine and transmission options are expected to be similar to the Duster. Nissan is also likely to introduce a hybrid version of the Tekton in early 2027, expanding its powertrain options in the future.

Honda Elevate Facelift Expected Later This Year

Honda is also working on an updated version of the Elevate, which is expected to arrive around August or September. The facelift is likely to receive revised bumpers, updated headlamps, refreshed tail lamps, and new alloy wheels. These changes should help give the SUV a fresher look without altering its overall design.

Inside, Honda could add features such as ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera system. The SUV is expected to continue with the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
