The all-new Jeep Compass of the latest generation will premiere globally in Europe later this year. The new model features numerous design updates, improved technology, and multiple engine options. Italy will be where production starts, and the new Compass will provide hybrid and electric versions, together with enhanced interior amenities and an even tougher external appearance. Though it will initially be available in Europe, its release in other regions such as North America and India is not yet clear.
The biggest visually apparent change in the new Jeep Compass is that it will have an aggressive and new-age body. The front grille accommodates the rectangular-shaped lights taken from the Jeep Recon version. The historic seven-slot grill will still intact but re-designed to a vertically inclined and depressed appearance. The light bar covering the grille helps the SUV gain a sleek look.
Side profile of Compass will have a finished look, flared wheel arches with incorporation of thick fender flares. These modifications provide an added road presence to Compass. Floating roof effect will provide further with black-out D-pillars and rear quarter glass. Rear features more aggressive wraparound tail lamps with LED light, along with the contemporary appearance of the SUV.
The new Jeep Compass will be larger than the current one. While the current Compass of the second generation measures 4,405 mm in length, 1,818 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, the new one may offer more space. The larger size will likely improve the interior space as well as the road presence of the SUV.
The inside of the new-gen Compass will also witness an enormous design as well as technology update. The dashboard, door panels, and center console will undergo restyling. The technology aspects will also undergo a changeover, including an increased size for the infotainment screen. The 10.1-inch touchscreen display of the current model could be bigger on the new one.
Jeep has promised the best technology in the new Compass that could see an update in the form of connectivity and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The amenities such as ventilated leather seats, voice command, wireless charging, and dual-pane sunroof will also be available in the new car.
The new Jeep Compass will be built on the STLA Medium platform, the same platform used by other Stellantis vehicles such as the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland. The platform is versatile enough to accommodate multiple powertrain models such as fully electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models.
In India, the second-generation Compass has already been launched with a 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of 170 hp and 350 Nm torque. The new generation will not only have similar powertrain variants but much more diverse and powerful ones.
The next-gen Jeep Compass will hit European shores in 2025, beginning production at Stellantis' Melfi factory in Italy. The vehicle will be available with different powertrains such as hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full battery electric and will feature all-wheel drive in certain trim levels.
Although European market launch is confirmed, others like North America and India's schedules remain to be finalized. In North America, the schedules for production remain to be decided for the moment as Stellantis considers its regional strategy. Jeep, in India, will, as reported, keep selling the current Compass model till at least 2026 without launching the new-gen Compass on specific dates.
