Maruti Suzuki had launched the new-gen Swift hatchback in the country earlier this year. The company is now gearing up for the launch of the new-gen Dzire sub-4 meter sedan. It was speculated to be launched in September or October, before Diwali. However, the launch has been pushed slightly and it will now go on sale in our market after the Diwali festival. The new Maruti Dzire will finally go on sale in the Indian market on November 4, 2024.
The new Maruti Dzire has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. In fact, clear exterior and interior images have already been leaked on the Internet. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the new Dzire gets a completely different design compared to the older model. It has a sharper front fascia with a more flatter nose, a blacked-out horizontally-slatted grille and new headlamp setup.
The sedan has a sporty front bumper, slimmer LED headlamps, and newly styled fog lamp housing. The sedan gets new alloy wheels, new large wraparound LED tail-lights, and a newly styled tailgate. The spy images also confirm that the new Maruti Dzire will be the first model in its category to offer a factory-fitted sunroof.
The new Dzire shares its interior with the new Swift; however, it has a lighter colour scheme compared to all-black interior in the hatchback sibling. In terms of features, the sedan will have a 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a semi-digital instrument console with a 4.2-inch digital MID. The sedan could also receive a 360-degree surround view camera. For safety, the sedan will have 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, rear parking sensors, and 3-point seatbelt.
The sedan will be powered by a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z Series petrol engine that powers the new Swift. This Z12E engine churns out a maximum power output of 82bhp and a peak torque of 112Nm. The sedan will also receive a CNG option. In the CNG mode, the power and torque output drops to 69bhp and 102Nm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
