The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Aura are some of the top contenders in the segment for the budget-conscious, feature-hungry Indian buyer. The latest version of the fourth-generation Maruti Dzire, launched today, has certainly raised the ante in this space. The new Dzire compact sedan has also become the first Maruti to receive a 5-star Global NCAP crash test rating.

The new Maruti Dzire is priced at Rs. 6.79 lakh and goes up to Rs. 10.14 lakh. The Honda Amaze is a tad costlier and runs in a range from Rs 7.20 lakh to Rs 9.96 lakh. There's also the Hyundai Aura, the least priced here, at between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.05 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, making it an interesting choice for budget-conscious buyers. If, on the other hand, they have a little more to spend, they might be interested in extra features that set apart the Dzire and Amaze.

The Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Aura have 1.2-litre petrol engines. The former churns out 80.46 bhp and 112 Nm of torque, while the latter puts up 81.86 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. Also available in CNG variants, respectively posting a power output of 68.79 bhp from the Dzire and 68.05 bhp from the Aura. The Amaze is marginally different, with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine producing 88.76 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. If one looks at the mileage, the Dzire takes the upper hand with 25.71 km/l on petrol AMT and 33.73 km/kg on CNG. The Aura achieves 20.5 km/l for petrol and 28 km/kg for CNG, while the Amaze returns up to 18.6 km/l with its manual gearbox.
All three sedans have a number of features but still differ in some or the other aspects. The variants of Dzire begin with a 9-inch touchscreen, an Arkamys sound system, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, and six airbags. The Honda Amaze has the base feature along with essentials such as a 7-inch touchscreen, cruise control, and paddle shifters available in the CVT variant, and a dual front airbag is standard. On safety, both Hyundai Aura and Dzire are at par with six airbags on all trims, and on technology, it only speaks well about the Aura, which comes well endowed with an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and automatic climate control, and a rear parking camera, making it a customer's delight, especially for tech-prone users.
