Hyundai has revealed an all-new NEXO mid-size SUV at the Seoul Mobility Show in Korea. This newly launched Hyundai car is a Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV), made of a unique design language named 'Art of Steel', offering flexibility, safety, and efficiency.
Earlier, we had witnessed some hydrogen cars/concepts showcased at Auto Expo, including the Toyota Hilux concept and the MG EUNIQ 7.
However, Hyundai claimed that the NEXO hydrogen car can offer more than 700 km of range from 5 minutes of charging.
Here is everything you need to know about the all-new Hyundai NEXO hydrogen car:
Hyundai has taken design inspiration from the INITIUM concept which was unveiled in October 2024. The second-generation NEXO boasts new 'Art of Steel' design language, featuring sturdy and sophisticated look.
New Nexo sports ‘HTWO’ LED lamps with four distinct dots at the front. It stands taller than the previous model and features black fender flares for contrast. The side windows have an interesting design, and the thick C-pillars extend through the glass, merging seamlessly into the rear doors.
The new Nexo is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4750mm in length, 1865mm in width, and 1640mm in height (without a roof rack), with a 2790mm wheelbase. It is 80mm longer and 5mm wider, while its height and wheelbase remain unchanged.
As for the colour options, the Nexo comes in six enchanting exterior paint schemes - Creamy White Pearl, Amazon Gray Metallic, Phantom Black Pearl, Ocean Indigo Matte, Goyo Copper Pearl, and Ecotronic Gray Pearl.
The interior of the new NEXO has also been upgraded with a more roomy cabin and upgraded features. It features a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-inch head-up display.
Other notable elements include a column-type shifter, a digital rearview mirror, first-row Premium Relaxation Seats, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, two wireless smartphone chargers, and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
The second-generation Hyundai Nexo comes with an upgraded powertrain. The total output has increased from 135kW to 190kW, with the battery’s output doubling from 40kW to 80kW. These enhancements improve the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to 7.8 seconds, down from 9.2 seconds in the previous Nexo. The hydrogen fuel cell stack now produces a maximum gross power of 110kW, a 16% boost, while the new electric motor delivers up to 150kW. The brand targets more than 700 km of range from a 5-minute charge.
