It is no secret that the long-awaited Nissan mid-sized SUV will make its debut in concept avatar on October 7, 2025. The C-SUV has already been caught testing on the Indian roads. Rumoured to be called the Nissan Kait, the new SUV will be a global model and will be exported to select international market.
Nissan will reveal the design of the new SUV on October 7, 2025. The company has confirmed that the new C-SUV will be launched in the Indian market in mid-2026, most probably around July-August. Stay tuned to CarLelo for more updates on its launch.
The new Nissan C-SUV will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform that also underpins the third-gen Renault Duster. The SUV will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai based manufacturing plant for domestic and international markets.
Nissan would aim to achieve higher levels of localisation to achieve competitive pricing. We expect the new Nissan C-SUV to cost somewhere around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris, Grand Vitara and the upcoming Renault Duster and Tata Sierra.
The new Nissan C-SUV will first arrive in petrol avatar. It is expected to be powered by a tried & tested 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The SUV could also get a 1.5L NA petrol or a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine.
The hybrid version of the Nissan C-SUV is most likely to be launched sometime in 2027. The hybrid version could use the 1.5L NA petrol engine, a small battery and an electric motor. The global-spec Duster gets a strong hybrid engine, which is packed with a 94hp, 1.6L petrol engine, a 49hp electric motor, a high-voltage starter generator and a 1.2kWh battery. The combined power output stands at 140hp. The same could also be offered with the Nissan C-SUV.

Nissan has already confirmed that the C-SUV design is inspired by the brand’s globally popular Patrol full-size SUV. The spy images reveal that the new Nissan SUV will feature rugged squarish design and upright stance.
It will come with an aggressive front fascia, featuring a prominent grille with a central Nissan logo and C-shaped elements in the bumper. The teaser reveals that the SUV could get an inverted L-shaped headlamps with connected daytime running lamps.
The new Nissan SUV will come with flared wheel arches, multi-spoke alloys, a sculpted bonnet, flatter roof with integrated spoiler, and a prominent black plastic cladding. The rear has a sculpted tailgate, and a rectangular shaped tail-lights connected via a LED light bar.
The cabin will have an all-new dashboard layout in-line with Nissan’s global design theme. It will borrow most of its features from the new Renault Duster, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2026. The SUV will have a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a digital driver’s display.
In terms of features, the SUV will have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree surround view camera, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a multi-spoke steering wheel and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. Safety features will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, and others.
