Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Nitin Gadkari has unveiled the fully ethanol-fueled variant of Toyota Innova Hycross. The MPV is said to be the world's first BS-VI (Stage-II), electrified flex fuel vehicle.
The Innova Hycross flex-fuel version is designed to operate on ethanol, a plant-derived duel categorised as E100.
The electrified flex-fuel Toyota Innova Hycross will not only run on alternative fuel but can also produce its electric power and operate in EV mode. Moreover, this prototype of flex-fuel MPV is in compliance with the latest emission norms, Bharat Stage 6 (Stage II).
This clearly shows that the flex-fuel iteration of the Toyota Innova Hycross is different from its hybrid variant of the MPV available in the Indian car market. The Innova Hycross hybrid comes equipped with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit which can produce the power output of 181 bhp mated with an e-CVT transmission. It provides a fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl.
Till now, there is no official launch date for the production version of the flex-fuel Innova Hycross MPV.
